More than 340 guests came out for The Old Globe’s black-tie soiree.
THE PARTY
Altruists and theater lovers joined together to laud The Old Globe at its 22nd annual gala, A Night of Revels. Held at the Balboa Park theatre, the fete is expected to have raised significant funds in support of the organization’s artistic and education programs.
THE SCENE
Partygoers including co-chairs Karen Cohn and Nina Doede were welcomed to a cocktail reception of Veuve Clicquot Champagne alongside small bites like firecracker shrimp and caprese skewers. Following the reception, guests were led to the The Old Globe’s Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage for a once-in-a-lifetime private concert by Hamilton Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
While Odom’s rendition of Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable” was certainly outstanding, the delicious dinner on Copley Plaza proved to be equally impressive. Event attendees like Sheryl White and Laurie Mitchell enjoyed a supper of poached pear and endive salad; beef tenderloin and pan-seared salmon; and fava bean and asparagus risotto. The cherry on top? A dessert table overflowing with 100 pounds of See’s Candies confectionary. ‒Meg Mcguire
