Hitting a High Note
San Diego’s culture vultures gathered for an evening of impressive tunes and elevated eats at the San Diego Symphony OPUS Gala.

THE PARTY
Nearly 2,000 music enthusiasts convened to celebrate at the San Diego Symphony OPUS Gala, featuring sounds from the San Diego Symphony Ochestra, pianist and singer Michael Feinstein, and Grammy Award-winning songstress Patti Austin. Cocktails flowed at the evening’s opening reception before guests made their way to The University Club Atop Symphony Towers for a delicious feast of braised short rib and grilled swordfish.

THE SCENE
San Diego Symphony VIPs, including CEO Martha Gilmer, Music Director Jahja Ling and Honorary Lifetime Directors Dr. Irwin Jacobs and wife Joan mingled with event co-chairs, music students and more. Corporate sponsors Van Cleef & Arpels, The University Club, Hermès and The San Diego Union-Tribune added to the posh experience.

THE HIGHLIGHTS
Attendees took the night to new heights with an afterparty on the 34th floor at The University Club, where a dueling piano bar, Champagne-tasting room, and GIF photo booth rounded out the fabulous affair. ‒Allison Mitchell
