The Party Inspired by the current exhibition Trash, the fifth annual New Children’s Museum Gala fĂȘted the transformation of rubbish into resource. The eclectic event raised more than $400,000 to support NCM’s innovative programming. The Scene Bicycle rim tables and lamps and chandeliers made from straws and forks spoke to the night’s theme, as did the “landfill bar.” Campine Catering chefs Antonio Friscia and Brian Malarkey got in on the fun with an organic menu and recycled serving plates.Following the dinner and live auction, a late-night Dumpster Dance Party kept guests grooving until midnight. The Highlights Encouraged to wear their finest eco couture, guests arrived in recycled and found fashion—think newspaper, plastic bags and Styrofoam. To help set the tone, fashion design students from The Art Institute of California-San Diego used recycled materials to make original outfits for the host committee. How trashy!
