It’s that time again. More than 40 prominent chefs from both sides of the border—including Rick Bayless, Wolfgang Puck, Nancy Silverton and Jonathan Waxman—are headed to Baja for the Valle Food & Wine Festival. “We expect to sell out at 2,500 guests,” says Carolynn Carreño, festival founder and event director. “This year, we’re proud to count three Mexico City chefs and one chef from Oaxaca among us.” Just as in years past, many of the chefs will cook over an open fire, preparing Baja-inspired dishes using local ingredients. All of these delicious bites will be accompanied by vino from 20 of Baja’s best wineries, plus craft beer and high-end Mexican spirits. The outdoor festival overlooks some of the region’s most scenic vineyards and mountainscapes at chef Javier Plascencia’s Finca Altozano (don’t miss the VIP lounge inside the restaurant).
