The Party: Chefs from all over the country flew in for the 30th annual Celebrity Chefs Cook Gala at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina to benefit the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. The Players: The beloved Gavin Kaysen, formerly of RBI and now of Cafe Boulud, was the evening’s main attraction. Also on the menu: San Francisco’s Loretta Keller of The Moss Room, Chicago’s Merlin Verrier of Graham Elliot Restaurant, S.D.’s Jean Michel Diot of Tapanade and Trey Foshee of Georges. The evening’s true heroes, however, were Iris and Matthew Strauss, who were honored for their generous support.
