When fashion designer Alexander Wang was ready to decorate his namesake stores and Balenciaga flagships, he called his best friend, interior designer Ryan Korban. Since meeting as college students in Manhattan, the creative duo have collaborated on both Wang’s professional and personal spaces. This season, some of the custom pieces Korban used to outfit those projects, like the aptly named The Alexander chair seen here, are available to the world. High on glamour and sleek monochromatic tones, the 40-piece furniture collection made by American maker EJ Victor embodies the interior designer’s passion for romance and Brutalism. “I’ve always loved to mix unlikely materials,” he says of The Alexander chair, which was one of the first designs he adapted from its original retail use to residential-ready. Also in the collection are pieces that take inspiration from previous projects for fellow fashion clients, such as Brandon Maxwell and Joseph Altuzarra. But there’s lots of room for a customer’s creative interpretation. “All of the pieces come in three different wood finishes, including gray, black and natural,” Korban says. “Depending on your personal aesthetic, there is a combination that can work for your many different spaces.”
